This tutorial will step you thru
creating a simple 2D (two dimensional) sheet metal bracket. 2D parts
are those made from sheet material and have one thickness throughout.
Start the eMachineShop CAD application: double click on the
desktop icon.
Check that the ruler indicates INCHES. If not, on the toolbar click
the button marked MM and verify that the ruler now shows INCHES.
Draw a rectangle: In
the left toolbar, point your mouse to the Rectangle button, read the
tip and click the button. Draw a rectangle in the workspace.
Enter
the position & size numerically: Locate the numeric bar below the
toolbar. Enter the X and Y position of 0 and 0. Make the part 2" wide
and 2" high by entering 2 in the horizontal and vertical size fields.
On the keyboard press Enter. In the Z edit control enter .0625 as the thickness of the part.
Then press the = key to equalize the drawing to the screen.
Draw a circle: In the
left toolbar choose the
Circle tool and draw a circle in the
workspace.
Enter the size numerically: In the numeric field
below the toolbar set the diameter to 0.25".
Make 3 copies of the circle: Choose
Line | Repeat 3 times.
Position the circles: Move the 4 circles to the desired positions
as shown. Adjust the positions to precise values via the numeric bar
(e.g. the lower left hole could be at position 0.5, 0.5).
Turn on snap: In the
left tool bar push in the
Snap-To-Lines button.
Draw the
bend line: In the left toolbar choose the
Line tool and draw the bend line as shown above left.
Set bend angle: Choose Line | Machine | Bend | Bend Angle and enter 90. Click OK.
Select a material: Choose Job | Material and select a metal. Click OK.
View part: Choose
View | 3D to check how your part will
look.
Rotate the view by dragging your mouse over the view.
Close the 3D view.
Choose Job | Analyze.
This will indicate whether your part can be manufactured and whether
any changes are recommended. Tip: Have your designs analyzed periodically
during the design process.
Review and resolve any messages.
To order you would choose Order | Place order.
