Comments to Machinist
Comments to Machinist (CTM) can be used to specify 3D shapes not yet supported by the software as
illustrated by the red lines and text below:

Following are some uses for Comments To Machinist for shapes that cannot currently be modeled:
- Holes and other features at angles other than 90 deg. Draw the feature in the appropriate side view (as shown above). In the view where the feature will be machined also show the position of the feature with text such as "Hole A in Left view centered on this line, Diam. 1.23 in."
- Countersinking for 2D parts only (for 3D parts see
Designing 3D
parts)
- Chamfered or rounded edges applied to only part of a contour or part of a line or where modeling is not supported
- Omission of a groove or edge effect at a certain location
- Features that require four axis milling
Use CAD features to accomplish shapes whenever possible before using Comments
to Machinist.
