Spacers are sleeves which create, separate or maintain equal or constant space between two things. Round spacers are usually unthreaded and are called clearance spacers. Threaded spacers are called standoffs. Metal and plastic spacers are used on many assemblies to hold parts in the correct place without using more complicated brackets. A screw or bolt is typically used through the center hole in the spacer to fasten the parts together.
