Services

We are ready to help you with your design or project - just let us know what services you need:

• BASIC - This is the most basic, most popular and lowest cost design service. This includes: creating an initial CAD drawing; resolving advisories, warnings and errors presented by the eMachineShop CAD, when practical; and when substantial research is not needed: selecting an appropriate general tolerance, material and surface finish.
  
  
• TOLERANCE - No physical part ever matches a mechanical drawing perfectly. For example a cylinder made to a drawing that specifies one inch diameter will never be one inch in diameter. It might be 1.01 or .99 or 1.001 or .999 but it will never be 1.0000000... That is why drawings must specify tolerances (e.g. +/- .01") - a range of acceptable measurements. This service researches and specifies recommended tolerances appropriate for your application. Tolerances include linear dimensional tolerance, radius for inside corners, flatness, surface roughness and for parts made from sheet material: sheet tolerance and edge draft.
  
  
• MEASURE - Measure a reference part to be copied and any mating components or devices. Please specify how accurately you want to measure (e.g. +/- .005") and whether you need the part returned to you.
  

Rates

The following rates are for engineering time spent on your design:

Assistance by email: $20 per half hour ($20 minimum).
Assistance by phone: $50 per half hour ($50 minimum).

Ordering the Service

To order the design service place your order - in the comment box include:

• Above service codes shown in capital letters
• Whether you seek assistance via email or phone
  
• Description of what you need - it is important to communicate *every* important detail of your application. For example, suppose you have us design a rectangular metal lid with 4 holes that you plan to bolt onto an existing box and you only specify the size of the rectangle and the diameter of the holes. You order the parts and the lids don't fit because you did not specify the hole locations. You would need to pay for a second run of redesigned lids.

After placing your order if you need to fax or email any design info, please do so.

Upon receiving your order, a cost estimate will be provided to you. You can then decide whether to proceed or cancel your order.

Disclaimer

Although design and engineering assistance will be provided with reasonable care you assume full responsibility for checking and adjusting all aspects of designs and engineering/manufacturing advice we provide, including but not limited to correctness, dimensions, safety, settings, selections, applicability, etc. When ordering parts based on a design that we have developed or based on our advice, you agree to accept parts manufactured in accordance with the design and accept other responsibilities under the same conditions as if you made the design. Under no circumstance will eMachineShop remake or refund part(s) that conform to a CAD drawing whether or not parts meet the intended application. It is recommended to order one or a few parts to test a new design before a final quantity is ordered.
