Hardware Assembly

You can specify hardware to be assembled to your parts. For example you might want to specify a PEM insert for a metal enclosure or a hinge for a box.

To have hardware assembled:

  1. Locate a supplier for the required hardware and get a price (e.g. mcmaster.com).
  2. On your drawing use Comments To Machinist to specify your requirement. Examples:
    • "Bolt hinge here (with arrow pointing to holes) mcmaster.com #123456, $5.00 for pack of 10 - $10 total, eMachineShop supplied"
    • "Insert PEM fastener - customer will supply via UPS"

Examples of hardware:

  • Bolts
  • Nuts
  • Inserts: PEM, Helicoil, Slimserts, etc. (first create the thru or blind hole using the normal CAD interface). Customer is responsible for choosing proper hole dimensions.
  • Hinges
  • Pins
  • Rivets
  • PEM fasteners
  • etc.

"I received my 3D CNC machined adapters today. They were spot-on with the design and drawing. I would have rather had them done at my Brother-in-law's shop but even he was impressed with the simplicity and ease that eMachineShop gets the job done. He was skeptical that they could be done so economically. Thanks, we will see how fast the demand gets ..."
