Injection Molding

Sun, 10 Aug 2008

Injection molding is a very popular and very efficient method of producing plastic parts.

During the process of plastic injection molding , the plastic is heated till it melts and is introduced, under pressure (injected), into a metal mold. The plastic part is then allowed to cool into a solid form. The plastic part is then ejected from the mold.

The plastic part produced has the reverse shape of the mold. A variety of shapes both 2D and 3D, can be produced by the process. The process of plastic molding is low cost due to the simplicity and efficiency of the process.

The major advantage of injection molding is that it is very cost effective and fast. Also, injection molding produces smooth and finished products that require little or no further finishing.
