Measure the distance between points by drawing a temporary line

Measuring the distance between two points

You can determine the distance between two points in your drawing. For example you might need to check if the center of hole is located at the proper distance from the part edge.

To measure the distance between two points:
  1. On the left toolbar push in Snap-to-Lines.
  2. Draw a temporary line or rectangle between the two points.
  3. Look at the values on the property bar.
  4. Delete the temporary line.

To measure the horizontal distance between two points at different vertical positions:

  1. Draw a rectangle between the points.
  2. View the horizontal size of the rectangle on the numeric bar.
  3. Delete the rectangle.

To measure the distance between a snap point and the location on another line at the same vertical position:

  1. Draw a temporary horizontal line from the snap point that crosses the other line.
  2. Choose Line | Intersect.
  3. Select the relevant line segment.
  4. Read the length of the segment on the numeric bar.
  5. Delete the temporary lines.

You folks are definitely one of the most valuable sites I ..."
