Text

text_2 You can draw text of any size or font. Text can be used for:

  • Cutting or machining text into your part
  • Comments to yourself
  • Comments to the machinist

To draw text:

  1. Click left toolbar | A button.
  2. Click in the workspace.
  3. Type the desired text.
  4. Press the Enter key.

To machine recessed or raised text on your parts:

  1. Draw the text as above.
  2. Choose Line | Machine and select Auto.
  3. On the numeric bar set the font size and select a True Type font:
    • Use font "eMachineShop 2D" for 2D sheet designs and set Z to Air Inside.
    • Use font "eMachineShop 3D" for 3D designs and enter a small Z value for the depth or height of the letters. Arcs inside letters must be at least radius .031".
  4. Choose Job | Analyze and resolve any advisories. For example you may need to convert text into primitive line shapes; round sharp corners; enlarge your text; etc.

You can resize and stretch text in the same way as other lines in your drawing. However when stretched along one axis, text is converted into splines and straights, preventing further editing.

To create smaller font text or detailed graphics:

  • Use Line | Machine | Silk Screen. This will print your text or graphics on the surface of the part.
  • For sheets 1/16" thick or less you can specify to etch the text or graphics. Use Line | Machine | Silk Screen but add Comments To Machinist "Etch instead of silk screen".

To add color:

For etched or recessed machined text or graphics use Comments to Machinist (e.g. "Fill with color black").

"Just a short note to applaud this innovative concept! I may even be able to bring some of my long-dreamed about, but never attempted projects into the real world. This is an outstanding service. Incredible! Fantastic!"
