Rubber Molding
Sun, 10 Feb 2008
Rubber molding produces rubber parts in a custom shape. Rubber materials are mostly synthetic, produced through highly controlled chemical processes. Rubber molding creates molded rubber parts by pressing a block of
rubber into a metal cavity. While there are variations in specific
methods, heat and pressure are generally used. Common methods of include injection molding, compression molding and transfer
molding.
Industries that benefit from custom molded rubber parts include automotive, appliances, sporting goods, medical, electrical, recreational and others.
Some examples of molded rubber parts include rubber grommets, tubes, shock mounts, stoppers, hoses, bumpers, washers, gaskets, seals, o-rings, buttons, handles, knobs,
enclosure, etc.
In designing rubber parts it is recommended to avoid sharp corners and overly complex shapes. One must also avoid undercuts that make it difficult to eject the molded part from the tooling.
eMachineShop makes it easy to acquire custom rubber parts via it's easy-to-learn software download. The software includes design capability, expert help, automatic pricing and online ordering.
