Welding
Welding provides a permanent way to join parts
You can weld different parts together. For example, you could weld a bracket to a post. You can also weld joints in a single part. For example, you could weld the corners of a five side box.
To specify welding:
- Draw a line at the edge you want welded or a small circle for spot welding.
- Select Line | Machine | Weld.
- Select a type of welding (see the web site for types of welding).
- Enter a joint number of 1.
- If you are welding to a different part do the same on the other part, specifying the same joint number of 1. The other part could be another .ems drawing file.
- If it is not self evident how parts are to be welded, clarify with Comments To Machinist.
- Repeat the above for other joints, increasing the joint number to 2, 3, etc.
Welding is shown on the 2D drawing (not on the 3D view).
When designing a box or pan with sides formed by bending, make sure the sides fully meet.
