I often work out mechanisms in my designs using comment lines. To make the drawings more realistic it helps to show which parts are on top of which other parts. This gives kind of a 3D effect on a 2D drawing. To make a shape appear to be obscured by other parts:

1) Select the shape line.
2) Choose Line | Intersect.
3) Remove line segments that would be obscured by other objects.

Note that this method uses the self-intersection feature where the intersect command is applied to a single line, dividing it wherever it crosses other lines, without effecting the other lines.

"Quite easy to use. Within only about 10 minutes I had it downloaded, installed, and had designed and priced a brass cog with 32 teeth, 1 inch in diameter and 1/4 inch thick. The quote was immediate."
