Make a box shape and then add a triangle in a side view with Z = Air Inside.

I think I have been trying that and every time I try and add it to the 160mm bracket it changes the Z on the bracket to 10mm.

I don't follow you.

So I first tried to add a 10mm triangle to the top an bottom views at the ends of the brackets and I was never able to intersect the lines. Then I built a box outside the bracket, intercected the box to create a triangle and tried to nudge the triangle into place. Once I got the 10mm triangle placed inside the 90degree bracket the Z on the bracket changes from 160mm to 10mm.

I think what you might be saying is make the bracket 140mm long and add a 10mm box on each end that is intercected to make the triangle and air inside on the part of the triangle that I do not want. I can then place the raised round platforms back into place once the braced are added.

The other problem I am having is the machine doesn't seem to want to go all the way into the recess of the 90 degree. Do I need to make a note to the machinist to make that the chamfer that I want? It seems to also think that the recess on the side view between the two holes ( not the raised ones on the platforms the other ones ) is too complicated to machine even though it is just a simple arc.

Thank you very much for your prompt help, you guys are amazing!

I'm just learning the program.

tech2 seemed to follow what you wanted.
I'm not sure I follow.
Is this the triangle? (not scaled)

Racer - posting what you have so far might help.

Ok. So here is what i have so far. Your suggestion on making the box worked well. I have the support triangle bracket added to the top view, now i want to add one to the bottom view but when I draw it in the bottom view and go to the 3D it has added it to the top view instead.

"Is this the triangle? (not scaled)"

yes, and I did that with my bracket but now try and do the same on the other end.

I don't see that you followed my suggestion "Make a box shape and then add a triangle in a side view with Z = Air Inside." You need to start with a box per the given link above (less the rounded corners).

If you look at my last down load the brace is there on the top view. What I am having the problem with now is adding the same brace to the bottom view or the oppsite end of the bracket. When I try and draw the same shape in the bottom view and go to the 3D is has added it to the top view that currently has the brace there.

It will also give me an error code that I have added an identical shape, and that is what I am trying to do just on the bottom view and not overlaying the same brace on the top view.

I understand your problem but you will continue to have a problem if you keep doing things the same way. Start over from scratch - make a box shape per the link I gave and then add a triangle in a side view with Z = Air Inside.

Well this will make it the 4th time I have started from scratch for other various problems, read learning the program, but could you answer one question for me before I start over again. Why can I add to the top view but I can't add the same shape to the bottom view? Is it because I started with the top view?

You can add it to the bottom view but it won't be in the position you want on the Z axis because the part can't be machined that way.

So am I asking for something to be machined that isn't possible or am I just not able to draw it. Is it possible for you to make the bracket with the support bracket on both ends?

"I received my 3D CNC machined adapters today. They were spot-on with the design and drawing. I would have rather had them done at my Brother-in-law's shop but even he was impressed with the simplicity and ease that eMachineShop gets the job done. He was skeptical that they could be done so economically. Thanks, we will see how fast the demand gets ..."
