Hi,
I am trying to make multiple identical parts in the same plastic injection mold but can not figure out how to join them. I have followed this,

You may be able to arrange multiple pieces in one mold by connecting them with small bars ~0.1", however the sub-components must not have widely varying volumes.

I duplicate the part, add a .1" line between to join them but then get the message Error: The indicated line is open directed to the .1" line joining the 2 parts together.

Please help.

I followed the directions in the link but still can not get it to work what does "delete all line segments internal to the dupe" mean? When I nudge the encompassing shape back into position on the original lines I get the error that the lines directly cover other lines.

I've updated the text at the link to answer your question about the step of deleting segments. If it still does not work, please send your design in to tech support with reference to this thread.

I tried it with just a simple disks with no internal lines but when I try to overlay the dupe back on the original I still get the error that lines directly cover other lines. I have sent the file to tech support for an answer.

Setting the repeat count under job: settings: allows me to cast up to 6 parts at a time more cost effectively, so making the drawing with multiple parts (2 for example) will actually cast 12 per shot and make it even more cost effective....correct? These parts are small-less than 1" x 1"

I tested the steps and they worked for me but maybe something is not clearly written.

Generally 2 x 6 would not be less expensive than 12 but stranger things have happened in the complex pricing algorithms.

hmmm I'm at a loss then hopefully emachineshop can duplicate the drawing and send it back to be to review and play with costs.
Thanks
