Thu Mar 12, 2009 6:37 pm Application routinely crashes
I have never seen an application crash so much. It never spits out an error as to why but it always happens when I try to render something in 3D. And when it crashes it somehow impacts MS explorer.exe - the main application which runs Desktop and provides the Start Menus and TaskBar. When it crashes, it hoses/hangs explorer.exe and it forces me to reboot the computer.
I have a simple drawing, pretty much a flat piece with two bends at the top and one bend at the bottom. I save everything before I try to render the image in 3D....sometimes it works, most time it crashes. Its quite frustrating. When it crashes, the 3D window status just says "Rendering...." - and then a few minutes later the Blue top of the window (with minimize/close buttons) adds a (Not Responding). Then I have to go into Task Manager to kill the program and 75% of the time it hoses my system requiring a reboot.
No messages or errors are produced that I am aware of.
My system is XP SP3, runnng on a HP Pentium IV with 2Gb of memory. The system is more than efficient to run some pretty heavy applications (as I am an IT developer).
