Mon Mar 23, 2009 4:25 pm cutting 0.25" A36 steel plate |
|

I have 6 different parts that I need to cut from 0.25" A36 steel plate. I am not sure what machine to use. I selected [-- login to view link --] but it said that this machine would not work with the material I selected. I then selected the laser and it said that the material was too thick. What should I use? Other machine shops said they would use water jet for this.

Please post your design for checking. We can cut 0.25" A-36 with [-- login to view link --] , router, [-- login to view link --] , [-- login to view link --] , [-- login to view link --] .

I believe the most cost effective way will be [-- login to view link --] cutting. There is nine different pieces I would need to have cut out and 50 of each. The included file is one of the pieces and it is the most complex of the pieces to be cut. The pieces need to be welded together for the final product.

We can cut this part with any machine I mentioned in the previous post. Please proceed with designing it in eMachineShop software. You can import it from DXF format if you have it designed in any software that exports into DXF.

Please give details why you consider the price/delivery time options given by the software as inaccurate.

It said that for one of my orders to produce 50 of each small part for a total of 250 parts would cost over $2600 and that this was due to my inaccurate choice of the [-- login to view link --] cutter which is not compatible with the A36 0.25" steel.

The price means that at least one [-- login to view link --] is compatible with the material. To minimize cost try the other machines I mentioned.
