Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:35 am Strength of Carbon Fiber? |

|
Would it be possible to know the approximate weight that a rod of carbon fiber with a very small diameter can hold without bending?
For example, if I had a 3 foot long rod of carbon fiber with a very small diameter such as .080, and this rod was suspended in the air, approximately how much weight could it hold without bending?
Thank you.

Do you mean a 3 foot length, 0.080" diameter, and supported at each end,
horizontally?
The deflection is a function of the material's Modulus of Elasticity, or stiffness.
And where the load is applied, like at the center point 1.5 feet from the ends?
