Z value

Whenever I try to make a 2d piece into a 3d piece,the z index is never available.I can't even put a hole in a piece of metal to make a washer. Help

You need to apply a 3D process to the lines, such as [-- login to view link --] . Click on the line. Select Line | Machine | Mill. Then you can set the Z value.
