I've drafted the middle section of a custom reservoir. It is cut from a solid piece of polycarbonate 0.75" thick.
When I add two tap holes on the front and back faces the cost of the project more than doubles. I experimented with removing the taps and having just the holes but with little price variation.
The change in price seems excessive, I'm wondering if it is accurate. Would it be better to use Comments to Machinist for the holes/tapping when estimating the design? If so should I submit the design as is or using Comments to Machinist.

The side features turn your job from 2D to 3D in our terminology. 2D jobs are generally less expensive. Even a single hole in another view requires more setup and workpiece holding changes.

Is there any way to reduce the cost yet still have the holes drilled and taped on the front and back faces?
