Currently you can run it using Admin account on Vista.

Ya, I know, When I run it I have to elevate.... that is a bug... there is no reason that this software should need admin.... hence the bug report..... Please Fix Wink

EDT: it's likely not even hard to figure it out and make some minor changes to the installer... In my day job I have to do work arounds for low end software so that it'll run under non admin... I kinda expected more from you guys... It is generally really nice software...

Same issue with Windows 7. And yes, UAC is enabled and as DarkStarMedia pointed out Vista/7 shouldn't be used without it (Users shouldn't run XP with administrative accounts either. When will people learn?)

This issue isn't simply about having to click thru a UAC dialog box. When the emachineshop application is run on a PC on a typical corporate domain as an standard user you have to provide administrator credentials and then the application runs in that profile. This means that any network drives mapped by the user are unavailable. Also, user folders such as "My documents" and "Desktop" aren't the user's folders, but the folders from the administrator's account.

All of this can be worked around but it makes for an unprofessional product. Please address this.

Version 1.69 uploaded today allows for use of the CAD with non-admin accounts.

Hi there,
further to this, I have just downloaded the setup file "emssetup169"
and it will not load up on my work computer. It is saying "You must be logged in as an Administrator when installing this program" (Windows XP)

This seems contrary to what you have said about Version 1.69?

You need admin rights to install. You can run the software using a simple user account.

With windows 7 x64 and ems 1.69, I still get the UAC "Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" warning/dialogue when running the program from the start menu & desktop shortcuts, as well as when doubleclicking "C:\Program Files (x86)\eMachineShop\emachineshop.exe". But, when the program is started by doublecliking any *.ems drawing, the UAC box does not appear.

"To whom it may concern, I just received my initial order (test run for one prototype) of 55 pieces. The machining is excellent, the parts are absolutely perfect. They fit together exactly as I had planed and designed. The machining stayed well within the tolerances allowed, and the parts turned out just as I had hoped. I have already assembled ..."
