Mon Sep 28, 2009 11:35 am Machining Plate Aluminum
My part is made out of 6061 aluminum. I want the part made out of 3/4" plate aluminum but the side need to be machined(this just means the cant have a water jet or laser cut type finish and angle). Then I wanted the whole part to have a chanfer on both sides. So in conclusion I am need a part made out of 3/4" 6061 plate. And the only machining needs to be the sides and internal cutouts.
Here are my questions:
Do I need to specify not to mill down to 3/4 but just begin with 3/4" plate?
How do I make sure my parts cutouts and sidewalls will have a milled finish? I know it has to do with surface finish but I do not know what values mean mill finish.
