Hi All,
I am a newbe to eMachineShop software and so far I am IMPRESSED with the power and ease of use. I am a 73 year young retired engineer and I wish I had something like this 20 years ago. I would have a lot more hair on my head than I do now if I had had something even close to this back then.
How some ever... I have run into a problem. In my design I have a 4 inch, .5 inch diameter rod with a .32 hole running through the center line of the rod. So far so good. How I want to put 12, .01 inch wide, .022 deep slots in the inside wall of the .32 hole running the length of the tube. I make the slots, do an intersection and delete the unwanted lines so I have 12 arcs connecting the 12 slots. I am attaching the drawing entitled FillTube.ems. Now I have an enclosed area .342 inches in diameter consisting of the througn hole with 12 slots radiating out from it like petals on a flower (tiny petals). I would like to do a -3.938 z axis so the bottom 1/16th inch of the tube is partially closed except for the flower witch is the bottom of the tube.
However eMachineShop pukes at my design and tell me the z axis is "not supported"! What the blank does that mean and how do I get it fixed so my little petals are supported. I did a previous design (also enclosed as Tube1.ems) with 8 slots made from .062 holes bisected by the id of the hole and the z axis was just fine. Are my slots too small for the software or what?
Thanks in advance,
dcroose

You can't set the Z value for a comment line. You need to first select and change the line to Auto via menu Line | Machine.

Thank you much,
It never occured to me that the software would csarry over from commenting on one drawing and then starting a new drawing and making some of the lines of the new design comments, but not all of them. I wonder how it selected what lines to make comments and which to not.

Last machine (Auto, [-- login to view link --] , comments...) used is assigned to any new new line you add to the design. But when you start new design first line you will add would have Auto machine assigned.
