We designed a simple aluminum part using EMS:

6061, 2 machines (although cost reduction claims 36 machines) #574 and 575, $232.74.

That is for one prototype part.

Needless to say, we did not order it. Instead, we got a small piece of 6061 from McMaster-Carr and hogged it out with a drill press, tap, hacksaw, and mill files.

Total cost, $36.00 and and hour's work.

Your quantity pricing is more in line, but you need to review your prototype pricing. It is discouraging initial orders that may result in future production orders.

I 100% agree. I have 2 parts that cost almost $500 for the initial part but after I make 25 they are only $70 each. I need a cheap one to check and make sure it fits and rotates correctly.

I also agree. I am in the process of designing a new product for dirt bikes and there are a few parts that need to be machined that I cant do and they are all made of 6061 aluminum but they will cost $200 to $350 a piece. But if I were to order 20 they are about $20 to $40 a piece. The bulk order is very acceptable and is the reason I use emachine at all but I cant afford to get a one off each made just to check and see if it will work.

It would be nice to some decent prototype part cost so the I could actually prototype something.

Other than that though EMS rocks!
