I am hoping that the CAD software is correct, but I would like to confirm it.
The part is 100mm long, and I need to bore a 4mm hole inside a 6mm hole. To achieve the desired 100mm deep through-hole (from end to end), I have a 10mm deep 6mm diameter hole in each end of the part and a 40mm deep 4mm diameter hole inside (and at the bottom of) each of the 6mm holes. This gives me a total of the 50mm x2 I need, and the software does not complain about it.
My concern is that the maximum depth of the 4mm hole that the software will allow is 48mm, and that the software is not recognizing that that 4mm hole STARTS at the bottom of the 6mm hole. In reality, I may get holes from each end with a 48mm depth, not the 50mm I need.
Am I justified in this concern, or will I actually get what I want?

If that will work, then why can't I just have two 4mm diameter 50mm deep holes and skip the 10mm deep 6mm holes altogether?

You could but there will be more chance of some misalignment where the holes meet.

Ah hah! Thank you, that makes sense (I'm not a machinist by trade).
That begs another related question though. While some of the details of the part are quite critical, these holes, in particular, are not. The 6mm holes provide a place to connect the flexible hydraulic lines, and the deep 4mm holes just carry the pressurized hydraulic fluid to four set of verticle holes that the actual hydraulic valves are located in. I made these 4mm holes extend the length of the body and out the other end (and drill the rest of the hole from that end) only because I could see no way to get a blind 4mm hole down far enough to reach that fourth set of verticle holes. I would need that 4mm hole to be 73mm deep to reach them (plus the 10mm deep 6mm hole).
Is there any way, even at the loss of accuracy, to drill that hole that deep? I currently have 2.3mm overlap between the deep fluid carying hole and the valve hole, so, theoretically, I could tolerate a fairly significant error.
I realize things can't get too carried away without risking breaking the tool, but I really would like to eliminate the through holes on the other end. That would allow this part to look exactly like the 45 year old Bosch units I'm duplicating.
