Hi,
I was looking to do some CNC milling, but all the materials on the "materials" list do not specify that any of the materials are CNC milling compatible (I intended to use 5052 aluminum). When I try to select a machine for the job on the machines list, a lot of the options are gone, such as laser, water and plasma cutting along with 3 axis milling. If someone could give me some help as to what went wrong, that would be great!

The latest version uses the Auto line type which offers automatic optimization making it easier and faster to design and price parts. The system automatically chooses the lowest cost and/or fastest process for your particular design so you don't have to spend time trying different processes. You only need to be concerned about the shape of your part.

I have the same problem the selection will not allow me to make what I want, that is I can not even make the simple 2D Bracket in the tutorial because my selection is limited, to usesless selections based on the desired autcome, ie no laser/water jet for simple rectangle with 4 holes and a bend. I can assign a bend but thats when it becomes neutered, and has no real machining selection Confused Ive treied different material etc no luck..[/quote]

As advised above assign the Auto selection.

Well it works like crap. I can't even tell it to cut holes. Rethink what you are doing or go back to the way it worked before. Mad

I think this is bull... I went to go add type to machine into the part and I dont see the option in the machine list. I mean these are major changes and All your tutorials are based on the old way of doing things. As an IT technician, I can understand making things user friendly, but there is such think and making it too easy.

I agree, I really liked the way it was before as well. I NEED my parts machined out of aluminum and with the auto feature am just not sure that all my parts with come that way. When you are about to order 5-10 different orders a really wants to be sure they will come the way I want them.

I am afraid that now that I can't specify which machine I will not get parts consistent with my previous orders. I want to make sure that one particular cut is Wire EDM but I can no longer specify that. I am very disappointed with the auto only option in this new software and will not order any more parts as long as this is the case. Sad

You can use Comments to Machinist to specify whatever process you want.
