What is the minimum distance that you can have between lines in a drawing when the part is to be injection molded? In my drawing I am putting a threaded hole near the outside diameter of a hollow cylinder. When I click the price/analyze button, I get a price but in the Analyzer section I get a message saying "Selected lines are too close to each other. If the problem is not visible, zoom in for a close view. Please revise the design making more space between lines".

I've discovered that I get this message unless the lines are at least 1.75 mm apart. Can the injection molding still be done if they are any closer together than this?

It depends on the situation. You would need to post your design here for further comment.

Ok here is my design. The drawing is what I would ideally want, but the three holes could be smaller to work as pilot holes to be drilled out later. The circular cut outs around the holes are meant to accomodate the head of a screw (which could also be a bit smaller). I don`t get the message in the analyzer if these circles have a diameter of about 3.97mm. So I`m wondering if the injection molding could still be done if they had a larger diameter (up to a maximum of 6.528mm, which is what it is in my attached file). If not, then would I still be able to make the holes in this part because I would get a message saying the lines would be too close to the lines drawn for the circular cut out around the hole?

Please ignore the lines too close warnings in your design and follow IM Design Considerations.

Download CAD Software

"A friend of mine said that he has tried various CAD programs over the years and none has been sufficiently easy for him the master with the exception of the software from emachineshop.com. He swears by it, and says that for the first time he finds himself going directly to the drawing software rather than pencil and paper."
