has anyone ever try to make automotive wheels? like a 17" wheel for a car. i wonder what the cost would be like.

I drew up a 17" wheel real quick and chose 6061 aluminum. Figure about 2500-3000$ per wheel. Custom CNC machined wheels can be quite pricy....

A more affordable approach might be to buy the barrels from a 3-piece wheel (like a BBS, Gotti etc.) or even the whole wheel. You can get them new or used. Then, instead of making the whole wheel on emachineshop, you can just make a new (replacement) center.
