I am trying to create what looks like half a wheel spool - lay a wheel spool on one end, and from top view slice it in half. I reviewed this help page http://www.emachineshop.com/machine-shop/Revolve/page273.html , but this is for a fully circular object...I actually just want half the object (from top view).

What is a "wheel spool"? And please post what you have so far.

like a spool of wire, or spool of thread...two discs connected by a pipe at the center of the discs. Turn the 'spool' on one end, and from the top view, and then cut it in half. Its like the 'resolve' concept, except instead of the design going 360, it only goes 180.

Use the Revolve feature and in the Top view draw a D shape with Z set to Air Outside.

after creating the D object, I can only set Z to Revolve or Air Inside....how do you add 'revolve' and a Z 'air outside' when the Z value allows only one value? And when I set the Z value to 'revolve' i get an error saying it can't happen from the Top view.

Tech2, is there a Revolve Tutorial? My problems are similar to the OP on this thread. Trying to make a simple roller.

Created outline of cross section in plan/TOP view should that be done in Left or Elevation then switch to TOP to invoke Revolve?

Air Outside???? dont' have that in the drop down menu?? can't scroll UP on drop down above AirInside?

Thnx

First make the plain spool referring to Revolve. Air Outside is in the Z edit drop list below the toolbar.
