A more efficient hub motor using toroidal stator coils to reduce back emf from a conventional hub motor.
The hub motor is designed to fit inside a bicycle wheel using shorter spokes.
220mm Diameter
60mm Thickness

Bearings 2 x 22 Dia x 7mm x 8mm scooter bearings
12 Neodymium N45 magnets 20mmDia x 10mm
6 toriod feromagnetic cores 42mm Dia x10mm

6 Hub bolts 8 dia mm x70 mm
6 stator bolts 8mm dia x 35mm

Axle bolt 8mm Dia x80mm

Any suggestions welcome.

I am currently looking at cutting parts out of 2 sheets of aluminium. The parts in stencil to be removed later by angle grinder.

Thanks

The motor uses a switched DC driver.

The wires must feed though the outer hub and through the inside of the hub bearing to the stator inside the hub.

I was thinking of using a larger axle (than 8mm Dia) with a grove to allow the wiring to pass though. Using 12mm Dia axle bolt in place?

Also the design should have 12 magnets 6 each of opposite polarity to provide the phasing of the motor.

Magnets are placed two beside each other in pairs for 6 poles. Making 3 pairs of opposite polarity.

cheers

"I received the parts I ordered and I am just stoked! They are exactly as I expected and will work perfectly for my project. Finding a machine shop to make the parts I need has been a big obstacle to my inventive efforts because the parts are often small and I don't need large quantities of them. This is my first transaction with eMachineShop and I ..."
