Price Analyzer

Hi,

I am feeling quiet frustrated. I have completely designed my piece ready to go. Now I am just refining my job settings to figure out the cost reductions and I am having quite a few problems.

FLATNESS:

Even after reading your page on Flatness it still makes no sense to me. I am building this Hub for a wheel and I cannot figure out how flatness will affect the design I have currently have it set to .12mm flatness. Any lower kicks up warnings but if I select the warning it does not highlight in RED the area of my part it is referring to. I have no idea what part of my design is affected by the Flatness rule.

I have changed all the setting so I get no warning in my design. GREAT!
Now I run the Analyzer and I get this message:

"The default settings for Tolerance, Radius, Flatness and Edge are the loosest values. Although the loosest values will minimize your cost, these values are NOT recommended."

This is the cause of my frustration.

I can see no better combination of settings for this job, any tighter tolerances and I get Warnings. The software already knows what is possible by flagging Warnings so why after I select settings (As a stupid Human who is not an accurate computer Program) in the program that flag no errors, does the software tell me THERE IS A BETTER WAY STUPID!

I feel like this is happening to me...

So I am a bit lost. I am pretty sure you'll say my design is fine to produce and don't worry about it but it's something I think you should have a think about.

When the software lists the price it gives 3 different postage / turnaround costs so why cant it also display the tightest tolerances possible then we could all work backwards to reduce cost buy changing non essential tolerances. My design Only needs the bearing seat to be a tight tolerance and be true as it is a wheel... all shapes and holes can be a little out.

The whole reason to have this software is so average Joe's like me can design something at home and get it made. We are not perfect experts and I understand you are not baby sitters to every backyard wannabe but a tightest tolerances possible display of some sort would be helpful.

About flatness, please go here

About the advisory that does not go away - if you read it carefully you will see that it is not saying you did anything wrong. Nevertheless we are aware of this and it is expected to be clarified in the next release.

As for your suggestion to give more automatic suggestions, we are planning that as well.

Thankyou for your repyl, I am sorry if my original post sounded harsh. I was just frustrated at the time. I think emachineshop is a great concept which appears to be incredibly well price for what I want to build.

Proof will be in the pudding when I actually get you to make my part which to me looks quite complicated to make but your software is saying it is fine.

I just gotta save up some coin and tripple check my measurements, tripple check again, then get a mate to tripple check. Very Happy
