Warnings or errors?

After doing an analysis on the enclosed schematic (see below) with the EMS CAD software, I get the following warning:

Quote:
Selected hole(s)/cutout(s) are too deep (360mm). Consider limiting depth to 288mm.

If the hole/cut is "too deep", doesn't that imply that the hole/cut isn't do-able? However, there are no incompatibilities, only warnings. What will the machinist do when he encounters this?

Furthermore, because I'm using "ABS Black" as my material, I see the following warning:

Quote:
Using a material on the recommended list may be advantageous.

Why isn't "ABS Black" a recommended material? It's a fairly standard material in consumer products. What material should I be using instead?

Thanks for any info,

-D

The CAD sees the slot as a hole due to the way you drew it. You can ignore the advisory in your case. Or you could recreate the slot from an adjacent view and use the Groove feature to create essentially the same shape.

If you point your mouse to the "Show only recommended materials" checkbox you will get a description of what that checkbox does. There is no problem using the material you selected.

In desperation, I designed a replacement bracket using my qCAD software. When I was looking for somebody to machine it, I found your company on the Internet and downloaded your ..."
