Hi All,
I am a newbe to emachineshop and I can't seem to get it to do what I need. I am trying to make a part that is 1.5" wide and 8" long. At about 5.5" I want the piece to narrow down to 1/4" centered. So far so good. I have the piece drawn and the 3D view shows the part as I expect. Now comes the problem. I want the 1/4" part to be rounded on the bottom along the 2.5" length of the narrow part. I expected I could do this by looking at the side views and drawing an arc on the end of the piece and deleting all outside the arc. The thing is when I go to either the right or left view I see no indication of the part narrowing. From the side view it looks like the part is all the same width. I have attached the drawing. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or how I can get the side view to accurately reflect the drawing as seen from the top view?
Thanks
dcroose

Remove the thin protrusion from the Top view (and close the main rectangle).
In the right view draw a D shape with Z = 2.5.

"I am not very well versed in utilizing CAD programs but I found your site and information to be the best that I have seen so far. With a minimal amount of tutorial time I was able to design a bracket and look at the 3D version which allowed me to see a potential problem with the design. You folks are definitely one of the most valuable sites I ..."
