Fine Blanking
Fine blanking produces parts with a higher quality
edge than conventional blanking. Shown below is a part made by conventional
blanking (top) and fine blanking (bottom).

The fully sheared cut edges of fine blanked parts provide
functional sealing surfaces and the ability to hold tight dimensional
control through the entire thickness of the part. Because of the constant pressure applied to both sides
of
the part during fine blanking, often very tight flatness specifications can be
achieved, without secondary grinding.
