Exporting
Exporting is the process of converting a design into another file format. You can export an eMachineShop CAD file to a few other formats. For example, you might need to export a drawing to DXF format.
To export a design file from eMachineShop:
- Choose the file already open or choose File
| Open and select a file to export.
- Choose File | Export. A dialog appears.
- Locate the folder you want to export to.
- Select the appropriate check boxes:
- Scale Indicator - Includes a scaling reference box
- Bend lines - Exports any bend lines
- Bend Angles - Exports bend angles if any bend lines
- Tap lines - Exports any tapping lines
- Tap Sizes - Exports any tapping specs
- Comments - Exports any comments
- Selected Only - Exports only selected lines if a selection is active
- All Views - Exports all views if more than one is present
- Select DXF (AutoCAD R12/LT12) format for a 2D export. Or select .iges or .stl for 3D export but this feature is in beta and not fully operational.
- Click Export.
In case of difficulty exporting to DXF, IGEs or STEP consider:
- removing lines from design one by one to isolate the problem.
- using Job | Analyze first and resolve any warnings.
- removing overlapping or intersecting lines.
- structure
your eMachineShop CAD approach by adding shapes onto a base if possible
instead of creating recesses in a larger block.
- for
designs previously imported, change regions consisting of small
straight line segments and arcs into regions with larger segments and
circles where possible.
