Thu Nov 05, 2009 4:32 pm hole on angled surface (wedge shape)
Need guidance on this sensor holder part.
four questions regarding the attached EMS file and the angled surface on its right side. I need to replicate the sensor holder (recessed hole) on the 40 degree angled surface and have a set screw come from the side to hold each sensor in place.
1) It appears that I cannot draw my recess and hole on an angled surface and I need to include "comments to machinist". Without drawing it how do I get an accurate quote?
2) When trying to draw a 4-40 threaded hole from the side the hole must start at the reference at the outer boundaries of the drawing - thus the 4-40 threaded hole cannot reach the actual part. Can this be fixed? How can this be clearly shown?
3) the top sensor recesses and the 40 degree sensor recessed surface must be within .1 degrees of design. How close are the standard tolerances for angles? How would I ensure the sensor recesses are accurately machined (i.e. what tolerances to spec)?
4) I intend to black annodize. Is a mechnical polish or buff needed if I just need a durable finish?

1 - See Line | Machine | Comments To Machinist.
2 - Thanks for the report - for now use Comments To Machinist.
3 - Not close enough. Use Comments To Machinist.
4 - No need for mechanical finish.
"Just a short note to applaud this innovative concept! I may even be able to bring some of my long-dreamed about, but never attempted projects into the real world. This is an outstanding service. Incredible! Fantastic!"
