So if I'm making something that will be put together with different materials, for example - a hand held device made of metal, with a rubber grip on the handle.

Do i design the two parts separate, and order both parts separate, then put them together when they get to my house?

Or will you all assemble the parts there?
Or, is there a way to build it all together in the same project file, and specify different materials for different parts of the object?

Thanks, can't wait to get started!

Generally you should design such parts separately. Most of our customers do their own assembly but you can direct us to assemble using Comments To Machinist

very cool! Thanks for the quick response!

I guess to make sure the different parts fit together, i should just be super careful about the measurements? or is there a way to test fit 2 objects together in the software?

also, is there any way to import 3ds, obj, etc into emachineshop?

The eMachineShop was perfect for my ..."
