Rubber

is an alternative to metal and plastic, ideal for applications requiring material that can flex, stretch, and compress.

Available in both synthetic and organic forms, rubber has a wide range of properties such as high elasticity, excellent tensile strength, and impressive resistance to tear and abrasion.

Applications

  • Pencil erasers
  • Keyboard keys
  • Non-slip feet for enclosures
  • Noise reduction devices
  • Grommets
  • Seals
  • Caps
  • Tires
  • Gaskets
  • Grips

Types of Rubber

Neoprene

Polychloroprene Excellent abrasion resistance and weatherability. Applications include gaskets, window seals, and sporting equipment.

Buna-N

Nitrile / NBR Exceptional resistance to oils and solvents, but low weatherability. Applications include seals, O-rings, and hoses.

Silicone

Polysiloxane Flexible, highly resistant to sunlight and oxidation, and has noteworthy insulative properties. Applications include adhesives for protecting fuel tanks, vent ducts, and wiring.

EPDM

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Exceptional weatherability and UV light resistance. Applications include hydraulic braking systems, grommets, belts, window spacers, and roof coatings.

Natural Gum

Polysaccharide Excellent tensile strength, elasticity, and abrasion resistance. Applications include pencil erasers, airbags, and clothing.

Viton

FKM High resistance to heat, aging, weather, ozone, oxygen, sunlight, and chemicals. Applications include aerospace equipment, gaskets, and engines.

Natural Rubber

Caoutchouc High strength, tear resistance, and elasticity. Applications include gloves, flooring, and nozzles.

SBR

Styrene Butadiene High abrasion and wear resistance. Applications include grommets and car tires.

Santoprene

Thermoplastic Vulcanizates Excellent weatherability and chemical resistance. Applications include weather seals, glazing seals, couplings, and drum rollers.

ECH

Epichlorohydrin Exceptional resistance to fuels, oils, and ozone. Applications include tubes, seals, and fuel system components.

Butyl

Isobutylene Isoprene Excellent resistance to electricity, acids and alkalis, and nearly air and gas tight. Applications include tubing, sealants, shock mounts, and tank liners.

Latex-Free TPE

Thermoplastic Elastomer Absorbs vibration and conforms to irregular surfaces. TPE is non-toxic, non-allergenic, highly elastic, and has superb tensile strength. It is often used as a substitute for latex and silicone tubing.

Hypalon

Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene Excellent weatherability and resistance to ozone, chemicals, oils and flex cracking. Applications include military equipment, snowshoes, and roofing materials.

TPU

For Material Jetting 3D Printing Rubber-like flexibility and good impact resistance. TPU is durable, has a high melting temperature of 203 degrees fahrenheit and commonly used for hoses, seals, and automotive applications.
